War Horse (Film Review)

War Horse, is a powerful and legendary film released on 25th of December 2011. Steven Spielberg directed it based on the novel that was made by Michael Morpurgo. This film mostly happen in Devon. The actors are Jeremy Irvine a Albie, his father Peter Mullan as Ted Narracott who is married to Emily Watson as Rosie Narracott. In this film, Albie and his father, Ted Narracott, have a strained relationship, his father is a drunk and has a limp leg because of the Boer War. This is an historical film based on World War I.

The Narracott's live in a small town called Devon. The story begins with Ted Narracott buys a horse. Albie is really happy and willing to take care and treat him. Albie name the horse Joey. One day, Ted Narracott sells Joey to Captain Nicholls (Tom Hiddleston), a cavalry officer. He will use Joey in battle, even though Joey is not a War horse, he is a strong and big horse. It's Joey's first journey. Will Joey survive and get back together with Albie?

The setting is very realistic. When they sketched a house for Narracotts' house, they found the house in Devon, England. It was incredible. The film also looked original. They combined the place with some other countries such as France. The costumes were also nice. Joanna Johnston designed the costumes for all the cast. They look riveting, and matches well with the characters when they are in action. Well, some people will not realise that Major Jamie Stewart and Captain Nicholls's costumes are not the same. The different is, Major Jamie Stewart have a keychain on his costume, and Captain Nicholls don't.

I thoroughly recommend this film. This film is well worth seeing. It's an insightful film. Not only for adults, but also, for all ages. The film will touch your heart and you will enjoy the movie. Besides the heart-warming scenes, you'll found a funny and tense scene in this film. So, what are you waiting for? Watch and see the journey between Joey and Albie in this film. Don't miss it!

War Horse: Summary Part 2

Yey, finally we finished the movie of War Horse. Its so heart warming. I want to cry, but I can’t. haha! Okay, let’s start…..

So, the war started. First, David Lyons’s leg was get injured, and helped by Albie. When all the armies are attack and run fron the trench, Andrew was still there. He not ready yet. Then he try to be brave, he ran as fast as he can catch up his friends. Then finally, Andrew has pass the traps that made by the British, and he feels very happy, And also Albie. He thrown a grenade to the British armies that shoots him. Then They went to other trnch. But suddenly there’s a gas that made their eyes almost blind. Andrew died there because of it.

Topthorn felt sick and he can’t walk because he’s very tired. And then Joey ran away because there’s a big tank that will bump him. He run as fast as he can. And when he through the traps that made by the Germans, he trapped there. The wire is sharp. And when he trapped, the army from the British side try to call him by “ckckck” like a dog, and the Germans side call him by whistle.

And the British’s side, try to helped Joey first. And the German’s side come too. They succeed removed the wire from Joey. First they almost fight because, the horse must be own by one of them. And then they use coin to decide who will get the horse. And the German kept Joey. And then they acquainted each other. German’s army named  Peter and the British named Colin.

Then Peter bring Joey to the dressing room. The dressing room is for medicate the troops who get injured. Albie was there because he attached by the gas. And then they met because Albie asked to his nurse what happen out there. And his nurse said that …. Got a beautiful horse. Then he tried to whistle. And joey still remember the whistle. Joey came to Albie and Albie hugged him.

A few days later, after the war ends. Albie feel well as usual again. Joey will be sold again. The grand-pére of Emilie come and buy Joey with 100pounds. But when Joey and grand-pére walk out, Joey comes back to Albie to say goodbye. Then Albie and Grand-pére have a little talk with Albie, and then he gave the sash to Albie, then he also gave back Joey to Albie.

And Albie went home with Joey. He hugged his mother and then his father. And he also gave back his father’s sash. His parents were happy because Albie survive.

Mr. Naraccott bought a horse cost 30 guineas at an auction. At the first time her wife, Mrs. Rosie. She unlike that Mr. Narracott bought the horse by cost of 30 Guineas. Then, Albie willing to take care of the horse and trained the horse and named Joey. And Albie tell a sound of whistle. Albie said to Joey that, if Joey hear that whistle, he should come. And yes, Albie did it. When Albie blow that sound of whistle, Joey come and find Albie.

Mr. Lyons come to Mr. Narraccot's house to bill or he will take Joey or his farm because the farm is not ploughed yet. And finally, Albie trained Joey how to plough.  But suddenly, his father sell Joey to Captain Nicholls for war, because they need money.  They have very bad economic. But before Joey gone, Albie gave a sash to Joey. Its Mr. Naraccott's sash when he went to Boer War. He put that sash there, because he expect Joey could be save without his supervision. 

After Captain Nicholls brought Joey to their place,  Joey got a friend named Topthorn. Major Jamie Stewart and Captain Nicholls was dead because shot by the Germany. And they got new master from German’s army. When Michael (little brother of Gunther) went away, Gunther catch up his brother by Joey and he also brought Topthorn there. Both of them were hiding. But they were found by their captain. And they were killed because they were defected.

And then, a girl named Emilie found Joey and Topthorn there. And Emilie willing to take care of them. She renamed Joey and Topthorn. She named the horses with the names of two boys that broke her heart. She live with her grandpa that own a farm. She love them. She try to train Joey jump. But she failed, because Joey can't jump. And in Emilie’s birthday, when Emilie try to ride Joey, Joey and Topthorn taken over by German's army. They took all the horses to pull an artillery to shot the British. 

When the sergeant ask the other army to take another horse, the army took Topthorn, but because Joey know that Topthorn's leg were unwell, so he replaced Topthorn. Even Joey knows the artillery was heavy and makes he tired.

After the scenes told its 4 years later, Albie and  his friend Andrew and Lyons joined the war because they already reach the age for war. Beside for war, Albie also want to meet Joey there. The War Started, the army from the Germans start running and scream. And the movie was stopped. We will finish War Horse next meeting, on Thursday. Yay. So excited!

My Self Reflection

I've learned about how to write an argumentative essay. I understand how to write them. I know the format for writing an essay. But I have a problem in grammar. And I don't know what title that might be interesting for my argumentative essay. Because, Ms. H said that my title for my argumentative essay was little boring. I wrote the second paragraph right. But the Third is the same as the second paragraph. And I have bad conclusion there. It seems writing an essay were so easy, but actually not. Its quite hard for me. Because there must some format for a perfect score. Not only that, also how we write the essay. We need to have a good thesis statement, our good grammar and etc.

We also had a debate. Actually, debate is not hard. We all need is research and speak. But somehow, I disappointed with my objection sentences last week. I wrote it on my paper, but I didn't saw them. I wrote it quite long. And because of that, I didn't speak clearly. It also because I'm to nervous, maybe. For me, that score was good, but its not enough.

I think I should practice to make an essay next time. And oractice at home before th debate time. I hope, I can be better in the next unit and get a perfect score. Actually, I just updated my argumentative essay score, I talked to Ms. H for make sure that, is it fix I got this score? Even the score was not so good, but its ok. Because my score is above the passing grade. So, Yey:D

School Stuff: Disagree That Ahmad Dhani Should Be Responsible On Dul's Action

Indonesia had many cases of an accident transportation. And the most part of it is driven by children underage. Actually they’re not allowed to drive before it’s the time. But many children underage drive car and motorbikes. Mostly underage children get accident when they ride, one of the causes is, they don’t have enough mental to drive a transportation. And they also haven’t got their licenses for driving. I disagree if Ahmad Dhani should responsible for his son’s action.

As we know, in that accident, Dul drove by his brother’s car, Al. His not 17 years old, he even haven’t get his driving license, but he dare to drive by him self to chaperon his girlfriend home with his friend. He asked his driver to go on holiday. He drove 105,8 km/h in midnight, its occur 00.45 AM with his friend, Naufal Samudra. The police saw tire tracks suspected car drift was jamming before he crashed into the toll barrier.

Dul’s family try to contact Dul that time, but he turned off his phone. Dhani is aware when Dul is driving. Because Dul don’t have enough mental to drive car. In his age, they still get panic of something that makes him shocked. When his friend see him, she asked how it is happened. And the last thing that Dul remembered was he trying to get in front of another car. Its not should be done by him. Because we can say, he still a beginner for driving. He made him (Dhani) expend a lot of money for him.

Many people said that Dul also haven’t got his permission from his dad while his out. And many people said that Ahmad Dhani must be blame. Because Dhani must take care of Dul. He must told Dul that he haven’t reach the age of 17 for driving and get driving license. Dhani is Dul’s father, and he must treated Dul as a normal child. Ahmad Dhani let his son drive by them self. He treated them to freely.

So, the conclusion is, dhani should not responsible of what his son did. He don’t asked his father permission when he went out, and his father tried to called him, but he turned off his phone. He drove 105,8 km/h in midnight, its occur 00.45 AM with his friend. He should not responsible of his son’s action. Because His son did it individually.

School Stuffs: Claim Report-Arthur Volupides’s Death

 With this report, we claim that Queenie Volupidez is lying about the death of his husband, Arthur Volupidez on the 21st of November 1971. Arthur’s body was found in his house at 02:00 AM in the morning by our crime scene investigator team.

That day, we arrived at Queenie’s house at 2.00 AM in the morning. There was no paramedics or any ambulance.  We found Queenie  with her friends inside that house and Arthur’s dead body on the stairs. His position was lying on his back, face up.

Queenie said that she had a tiff with his husband Arthur. Because she was sick of it, she went to the Country club using a dress. Then she went home from the club around 12.50 am, she arrived at home around 5 minutes later. When Queenie arrived home,  she saw her husband Arthur is lying on the bottom of the stairs, dead. She was shocked. 10 minutes later, her friends came. Queenie said that Arthur slipped when he wanted to take another glass of alcohol.

The autopsy found that Arthur have a wound on his head. He must have fell hard from the stairs. It’s a little weird that there is no bleeding in his head. And he was fell downstairs, usually people fell down the stairs they only got bruised. The autopsy also found that he’d been drunk. This supports the fact that he is holding a glass on his left hand.

In the crime scene we found some evidences that points towards the other way. We are pretty convinced that Queenie is lying. Why? Because we found that Arthur’s clothes are not disheveled. Usually, when people fall downstairs, their clothes become disheveled. There’s nothing on the stairs. When someone slips on something, usually there is something to slip on. And the glass in Arthur’s left hand is not broken. As a rule, when people fall downstairs they drop what they are holding.

The evidences clearly does not support what Queenie said happened. In the crime scene, as what we’ve stated before. Because when someone slips, usually there is something to slip on. Meanwhile there is nothing on the stairs. Nothing wet or slimy that Arthur might have slipped on. Second, the fact that the glass on Arthur’s hand in still whole and not broken is weird. As a rule, when people fall downstairs they drop what they are holding in order to grasp something still that can stop them from falling. It is a human reflex. Another thing is that there was no paramedics on the spot. Normally if somebody found a dead body or someone injured in their house, people will immediately contact the paramedics. And the last, but the biggest question just yet. According to Queenie, Arthur is falling down the stairs, But if thats the case Arthur should have fallen leg first instead of head first like what we find at the crime scene.

The conclusion is that Arthur was tripped by Queenie. Queenie and Arthur had a tiff. They must have hate each other in that time. Queen was tired being Arthur’s wife. Her motive is that Queenie is so angry to Arthur until She really wanted to hurt Arthur. But Queenie has gone too far. From wanting to hurt Arthur so bad, she killed him. Queenie did not call any Ambulance or police. It only took like 3 minutes to dial 911 and ask for help. But Queenie waited for 10 minutes. She waited for her friends. What did she do in that 10 minutes? We think that in that 10 minutes she cleaned the crime scene and moved any evidence that she can found such as fingerprints, and also blood.
